I am an 8th grader at Diamond. While it's true that we are known for being an incredibly gifted school in academics, this means that a lot of extra pressure is added. I've had sleepless nights worrying over an assignment, fueled only by pure adrenaline and caffeine. But learning isn't everything. At our school, we also focus on arts and athletics. The Diamond musical, play, 8th grade drama project, and improv shows are always something to look forward to. The Diamond Track Team has won the States Track Meet for 6 years now. There's something for everyone, even if that means just going home and spending time your way. My point is, Diamond is only bad if you make it bad. All the teachers are incredibly smart people, and willing you help you if you ask. As for the food, well...let's just say there are varying opinions.
Anungoo's right, this place is awesome! (She's my friend.) The cool kids aren't even mean, and some of them are really smart! Our school has a rivalry with Clarke, the other LPS middle school. Diamond and Clarke always score first and second, sometimes in that order and sometimes not, on MCAS, the standardized test for our state. The two LPS schools also score really high on NEML, IMLEM, and other math competitions. Last year, Diamond got second place for Science Olympiad (Clarke doesn't have a Science Olympiad team). A new team (see Wikipedia for more details) was recently added to the sixth grade, which Wikipedia hasn't updated yet. There is a lot of school spirit, and relatively little drama. The sixth, seventh, and eighth grade are rather distant, but that's good because the drama only happens and is discussed within each grade, so there is so schoolwide gossip.
Diamond is an amazing place where kids learn and have fun. You will definitely have lots of friends. And everyone else is really friendly. Occasionally there is a bad kid or two though. The teachers are really nice, but sometimes can pick favorites. The food is pretty good and all the different academic and physical clubs and classes are absolutely the best. If you are moving here come over to diamond middle school. (Most bad reviews are from Clarke kids (the other middle school in Lexington. so don't let that change your decision)
This school is amazing, they have quality food, amazing teachers, and an amazing sports and math team. If your moving to Lexington, come over to our side of town. Also, since most negative reviews are by clarkies, don't change your opinion because of their immaturity. And also, be sure to review one star on clark. BOOOOOOOOO CLARK! U DUDS AARE WEIRD LOSERS. Thank you for reading this review.
Having lots of experience from going to 3 different middle schools and moving 8 times, I think this is school is different from all the others. You learn more things without stressing out that much, nice and helpful people, easy to make friends. :)
