Went to Franco from 3rd to 8th grade. Class of 2002. Can't deny the great education.
Teachers work very hard to help all students succeed. There is a real sense of community between the teachers and families, there are activities all of the time!
Wonderful school community with a challenging curriculum. Definitely worth checking out for your son or daughter!
Best Catholic School in the area. My son went here for 2 years then i decided to take him to charter school. Big mistake. He was way ahead of the class. Homework was not comparable. Franco is advanced in their curriculum so a Kindergarten kid is at 1st grade public school level. They have approximately a 10:1 studentteacher ratio and work as a team with parents for the child's best interest. There are a few things that have room for improvement like a larger play ground and diversity amongst staff but thats is not as significant maximizing the childs capacity.
Generally speaking if you are going to pay for private school , this is by far the best choice.
When my wife first announced her intent to send my son to FAS (where she went), I was skeptical, having been educated in Lowell Public schools. But knowing of the challenges faced by public schools in providing low student:teacher ratios and the inability of educators to engage in discussions on religion and other "taboo" topics (that I believe are the foundation of discussions on ethics and values), I relented.
Now two years into our experience with FAS, I am delighted every day to see my sons intelligence grow, as well his respect for people and understanding of what it means to be true to himself and others. If you are looking at private school in the Lowell area, I would put FAS on the list of schools to consider, and meet with the staff to understand what a great school FAS really is.
