“An actor having a speech impediment is not the best idea. I decided to continue acting and ignore my speech impediment. I go to an arts high school and this past year my acting teacher told me that it was time I went to speech therapy. I have not met many high school students going to speech therapy so I thought how would I ever do this? Yet, one recommendation later I was headed to Elyse to fix my "r's." Little did I know it was my whole tongue that was the problem. Elyse gave me exercises to gain a stronger tongue so I could speak the right way and have better diction overall. Elyse not only understood that as an actor I needed good diction she taught me the difference between on and off stage diction. She kept saying to me "we're going get this done." And we did exactly that. I started in February and was done by April. She inspired me to work hard at removing my impediment. Not only does Elyse still correct my speech she is a supportive, kind, passionate person that continues to inspire me.”
