Classic. Used to go here as a kid to see the herring in the spring. Great place to explore and relax with lunch and good company. Picnic tables and benches make this the perfect spot.
You have to visit when the herring are running! (late March to early May) It's a great learning opportunity for children of all ages, and there's nothing quite like sticking your feet in the water and having hundreds of herring brushing up against them in a massive school.
Fun and interesting little place when the Herring are running. Definitely worth a quick stop with the kids or grand kids. Bring a sandwich or an ice cream and enjoy the outdoors.
It was amazing. This is the biggest herring run in a decade. It was overwhelming and awe inspiring. These were 2-3 year old herring returning home to spawn in fresh water and then head back to the sea to repeat the process, if they're lucky. 1% of the spawn will survive. This beautiful experience was thanks to limitations in commercial fishing. Conservation works
Nice little stop. There are a couple of picnic tables and a bench. Nice place to sit and relax or enjoy lunch. Depending on the time of year and day. There is a bakery up the road with coffee and ice cream. Summertime go grab a cone and relax to the water sounds. In the cooler temperatures get a coffee and a pastry makes this a great spot.
