The trails at Vaughn Hills are pretty underrated and are fairly extensive for a small physical area. You can also cross the street to get to Bowers Springs to lengthen your day. The trails are marked, but not particularly well, especially when the leaves come down in the fall. Overall the park is small enough where a wrong turn or two won't mess things up too badly.
Beautiful trails with access to the wetlands. If you're hoping to see a lot of frogs and have quiet feet, this is a great place to go.
Beautiful cool shady trail with streams running through it. There are bridges over the streams for easy crossing. Wildlife is abundant including foxes, deer and turkeys, so we kept the dogs on the lease just to be safe.
Hiking along Vaugh Hill we skirted the beaver pond and got a close look at the dam they constructed. What an engineering feat. From a distance one can see how level it is and how the logs are crisscrossing. This is a methodical
construction. No Wonder they call them busy beavers. From our vantage point the pond had an element of primordial freeze.
Tricky to find entrance but was really nice and quiet
