What a wonderfully friendly location for a family reunion. We found the staff to be incredibly friendly and helpful, the facilities were very well kept in good repair and CLEAN. We had 37 of our family members with us and everyone had a great time.
We made use of the Lakeview Lodge and we had ample room for everyone. I was amazed at how well-equipped the kitchen is. The main gathering area in that lodge had ample tables and chairs for eating and games, as well as comfortable couches and chairs for chillin.
There was a great campfire spot with plenty of firewood.
The surrounding woods are beautiful and the two swimming beaches provided more great opportunities for everyone to have lots of fun. There are also a tennis/pickleball court, basketball courts, lots of good hiking trails and just plain plenty to do. And the kids play structure by the main office is AMAZING. I'm sorry I didn't take a picture of it.
If you want a GREAT place for a family get-together, this is it.
My son's 5th grade class went here for a field trip. It was a great experience. The staff was wonderful. All the kids were given instructions prior to each activity. The activities included archery, canoeing, hiking, and learning about nature and conservation. The cabins were clean and well maintained as well.
The place was amazing, the view from the cabin we stayed at was breath taking. The staff was every helpful even with such a large group. There was so much for everyone could have fun
It is hard to put such beauty into words. If you like camping in the outdoors but dont want to use tents and want to stay in a lodge or cabin and have amenities such as a lake to swim in, canoes, hiking trails with places to sit, benches to swing on, and other things like this friedenswald is the place to go. It is absolutely gorgeous with a great history and I would absolutely go again, especially if it were for a camp or retreat.
The pristine 'Peace Woods' of Camp Friedenswald make good on their promise for offering a space to retreat, renew, and reconnect. Pictured below, I am standing at a closer-to-nature amphitheater which is one of many eclectic offerings of the camp.
