Visited on Pioneer Day. It's always nice, hometown fun. Didn't hear any cannon shooting, or any demonstrations of fabric dyeing. We were sad that there wasn't an interactive sewing station like there used to be. Seems like there were lots more vendors and less hands-on activities this year. We were all disappointed that there wasn't any butter churning demonstration and samples. We love that there were musicians playing in different locations throughout the entire day. Would be great if this was a two-day event so that it wasn't as crowded as it was on a Sunday. The line was probably about 40 people long just to get lunch and more than half that to go on hayride. I'm really glad they're busy, but unfortunately it isn't as much fun as a visitor when it's that crowded. Please bring back those interactive activities and the butter crackers. 😊
wonderful preserved small farm, home, buildings, local folks volunteer lot of time to make it a friendly , entertaining, and educational event. I look forward to their event every year, even though I have seen it all, can still learn from country people that have lived the farm life thru many generations. Brings back the farm memories from the small 1st generation family farms my grandparents settled, where I grew up with in Wisconsin. Still being farmed on larger scale, but no dairy, or animals anymore, just crops.
More than meets the eye. Very knowledgeable staff, great stories that really make the history exciting.
We visited on a special event weekend in June. It was awesome!! It was better than anything I expected. The buildings and grounds are beautiful and the volunteers are great. I met some great people! The experience was very educational and enriching! I am excited to come back.
It looks like it would be a wonderful stopping-off point to waste a little free time. Very cute nestled in the countryside of southeast central Michigan. And, it is very well kept up. But we only saw the outside. Sadly, though the signs and websites say it is open, it wasn't open. So, call ahead is my suggestion to ensure it is open. I'm sure the full experience would be very nice way to spend an hour or two!
