August 4, 2021 - Well, I dropped off a house radiator three weeks ago to get sandblasted and painted and I've called a few times only to get a machine that just says to leave a message after the tone. No business name, no thank you for calling, no we'll get back to you - nothing. I have left a message with my name and repeated my phone number. I haven't heard anything. I am really nervous.

September 6, 2021 - John answered and said he had sent my radiator elsewhere to get sandblasted and it was dropped and shattered in a corner, and after numerous consults with HVAC pros over the week, determined that it could not be repaired properly. He said the other place where he sent my radiator and broke it would not pay for a new one, so he said he would and was sorry. I said stuff happens, but was glad to hear he was ordering, or had ordered, a replacement and was paying for it. I asked when it would be in and said I was nervous about the fittings in my floor fitting into the new one. He assured me it'd be OK and it'd probably be "a couple weeks" because it hadn't shipped yet and was coming from NJ.

September 20, 2021 - No answer. I left a message saying I was following up since it's been a couple weeks and the weather is going to be changing to cooler temperatures soon. We won't be able to have heat until we get the radiator back to close the loop in the system. By the way, the outgoing message is just the stock outgoing message that answers when you first get a phone. Still nervous. Willing and happy to change my stars if this turns out well. Trying to be patient.

September 27, 2021 - Picked up radiator after John called and said it was scheduled to be delivered on Thursday the 23rd or Friday the 24th. He was very nice about it. It was new, and looked to be powder-coated well, as he said it would be. We haven't been able to install it yet, as our bathroom remodel is taking a bit longer due to our contractor needing to replace plumbing and electrical. It appears like it will fit fine in the original space with fittings (it does not - see Oct 27 entry). The employees at Strip It All said they were glad to see the radiator leave. I know it was a source of aggravation for them with the outsourcing breakage and the responsible party not paying for it. John wasn't there when my husband and I picked it up, and the employees couldn't find any paperwork on it, so I said just have him call when he's ready to take my payment for the powder coating. It took over two months for us to get the radiator, but we're happy we got the replacement before it gets too cold outside, as we will be ready to have proper heating in the house when the time comes. I'm glad Strip It All made it right, though I'm sorry about what happened with their business partner.

October 27, 2021 - Great Dane Heating & Air Conditioning sent a knowledgeable representative named Ryan to us today in order to install the new radiator that John ordered from Strip It All. Like most everywhere, it took quite some time to get an appointment for this. Unfortunately, Ryan let us know that the radiator does NOT fit the current fittings that are there and said we'd have to pull out the old pipes, install new ones and install the new radiator so we can have a closed heating system again and turn the heat on. This would also mean demolishing some of our new tile and grout around the fittings, which we'd have to get re-done after the new pipe installation. Ryan said the labor for the pipes would be costly - in the ballpark of $1,000 to $1,500. He said he'd talk with his manager and give us a proper quote, but prepared us for the aforementioned price range. We would not have to be paying this if our original radiator had not been dropped and broken. Nor for the re-do on our tile and grout. Meanwhile, we don't have heat and the weather is getting colder. I think I need an attorney.
