Second time here. New tire within 20 minutes. Great staff. Down to earth owner.
the great people at rick’s are what make this business such a pleasure to work with. front of house staff are hard workers, knowledgeable with great personalities. rick is as honest as they come, a true professional. mechanics appear hard-working and passionate about the work they do. great attitudes, great local business. 10/10
tl;dr: Go here: Save money, keep hair on your head and have working transportation.
Can't say enough great things about Rick and his shop. I've taken multiple cars there for the last two decades (old and new location).
My *first* experience with Rick was on recommendation from a friend to buy new tires for my truck -- ~$190/tire quoted everywhere else (all 4 tires). Took it to Rick, said the same thing to him that I said to everyone else: "I am getting rid of this car, next year, but need to get through the winter", he gave me 3 options ranging from $90-$130 and told me to buy 3, not 4 tires, because I had an unused, full-sized spare on the back -- he'd put the spare on and take the best of the 4 replaced tires for the spare. I wasn't understanding him (call it cognitive dissonance -- I don't think a mechanic had ever tried to save me money prior to this point) and insisted that I wanted 4 new tires. He ... rather patiently ... explained it all to me again.
So basically this guy could have spared himself some grief and made an additional $130 bucks to boot, but chose to make sure I didn't do something stupid, instead. I mentioned this to my Dad and he said "Oh yeah, I've taken my cars to him for a while; great shop". I hadn't known that and Rick didn't know my family were past customers -- I was just some guy off the street.
He kept me in that car for 2 years since he was able to fix the two small things that were wrong with it for under $200 (quoted over $600 at the dealer). And I have several other stories.
His shop is *very* busy as a result. They run a tight ship, though -- if they tell you they'll get to it at a certain time, it'll be gotten to at that time -- frequently earlier.
Best part, though -- Rick has an *amazing* collection of gas-converted bicycles and other transportation, including a gas powered 2-blade prop "back-pack" (think "jetpack" with a propeller) ... which he uses (some of it is for sale and the prices are similarly exceptional)
