Such a cute place! Claude is the chef and owner who mostly runs the whole place herself! She is a very cute, kind lady. We went here for lunch and got a savory crepe and quiche. The menu changes daily since Claude makes everything from scratch also based on seasonal ingredients. The food was amazing - the quiche was so fluffy and soft, perhaps even better than the quiches I’ve had in Paris! The crepe was similar to the authentic crepes I’ve had in france before as well. I appreciate that the portions are filling but won’t leave you uncomfortably full. Go here if you’re looking for authentic French cuisine - very cute ambience as well :)
Independent chef-run restaurant with a small daily menu. Surprisingly, there was no crowd on a weeknight, which we were thankful for. We had the smoked salmon and spinach quiche and the mushroom risotto. For dessert, the ribbon cake in the picture. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The quiche was especially good. I've never had a quiche that was so light and moist and custardy. We were served by the chef, and she was very nice and helpful. We've never been to a restaurant like this before, and we're looking forward to returning.
This has to be the best and most authentic Quiche I have ever had. The owner is really sweet and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for some authentic french place with a laid back vibe.
Had some errands to run in Downtown Birmingham, and thought I’d stop in to check out The French Lady. It also happens to be restaurant week in Birmingham, so they had items not always on their menu.
I asked Claude, the owner, to choose my lunch for me, and I’m so happy I did. She chose Cassoulet for me, a white bean casserole with sausage and beef. My understanding is each region in France claims this dish to be their specialty, with their own little tweaks and changes. I’m so glad I let her choose, because I would have never selected this. It was fabulous - slow cooked over 14 hours. They buy their ingredients from small, locally owned farms. Yum! 😋 And their cherry custard tart (made with Michigan tart cherries) was amazing.
It’s rare that I’m out and about on a Friday afternoon - truly enjoyed my time looking at my book and eating lunch in this charming, relaxing, place.
OK so this was a new adventure for me and my godson. We are trying new culture of food. This was a new flavor. My godson was not the biggest fan but I thought it was OK. The carrots were amazing and the beef was tender. The sauce was different. It's a up and coming restaurant
Very small and cozy. I liked it.
