Such a beautiful place to get a walk or a run, we haven't been able to see the inside of the house but the gardens are well kept and they always have seasonal flowers. A lot of beautiful flowers and cherry trees in spring and it's golden in autumn
If one has any interest in historical homes (or in this case a manor house) this is a fine home to tour. The tour only includes what would have been public areas of the first floor (no kitchens, bedrooms, etc). The architecture is not extraordinary but it is interesting and the interiors are extraordinary. The Booths were supporters of fine craft workers and artisans and the interior appointments demonstrate as much. Some of the detail work, such as above the fireplace in the library, is truly exceptional and makes a visit from a keen-eyed observer well worth the time. The gardens appear beautifully laid out, but we visited in the snow and did not walk through the garden areas. I would commend them to visitors based solely on the visual appeal of their design.
A glorious example of Arts & Crafts excellence. Gorgeous details everywhere you look - doors, grates, fireplaces, furniture, lights - every single piece has amazing craftsmanship and soulful purpose. This is truly a treasure. The docents are well informed and clearly cherish this very special house.
An absolutely beautiful location that makes you feel like you're in the English countryside at times. It's free to walk the grounds, but if you have an interest in history and/or architecture, then the paid house tour is worth it. It's amazing to see how people put such personal details into their houses back then.
Keep in mind that during the fall season, there will be increased busyness due to high schoolers coming for senior and homecoming pictures!
This is a wonderful place to hike, take pictures, gather in a group and enjoy the gardens. I went to a wedding here and it was the best ever! I love the reflection pool, the ambience, and don't miss the Japanese Garden situated out back. It could be easily missed since I never saw a sign from the way I walked...you have to know it is there. The summer garden beds are stunning. best of all it is still free to visit the gardens.
