“When our son came to live with us out of foster care, he was extremely far behind in reading. For 8 months we were using school tutors twice a week with very little progress. Thankfully, we found Brainy Kids at a time we needed it most. Mrs. Marina Tsokur and her team customized a learning program for our son which was fun, engaging, but also where he could make some serious progress in reading. In a little over a year of work our son went from 20th percentile in his reading scores to 80th percentile. I would recommend Brainy Kids to anyone who is looking to boost their child’s reading scores.”

“I spent my 1st all the way to 3rd grade at this school. I made many friends and now I'm in 9th grade in a different state. I'm so glad that I was lucky enough to grow up here with a great childhood thanks to this school and local islamic community. I'm already feeling nostalgic because how great this place was except that the school will make you do A LOT of projects. You're gonna get your hands sored from cutting cardboard after cardboard. I remember back in 2015-2016, I had to do a lot of projects instead of regular paper assignments so just be aware of that”

“We have had a great experience at the Center. Our son was diagnosed with Autism several months ago and they recommended ABA Intensive Therapy. We spoke to many centers and toured two of them. We chose North Oakland because it was more of a preschool/kindergarten environment, they have a playground area and everything for the kids. I interviewed the director of the school, she was very competent and enthusiastic about helping the kids. Our son has been there two months and is developing at a rapid pace. He is doing really well overall, he really likes the school. The staff is friendly and excited about our son's progress almost as much as we are! “Owen Intermediate is a very good school! It is a 5th-6th grade school, so it has a direct focus. The building has been upgraded over the past year. The PTSO is active this year and we are working on a Tiger Den area for the kids to use for indoor recess and for reward time with projector Wiis, air hockey tables, foosball tables, ping pong tables and areas for board game play. It is not quite finished yet but the kids love what we have so far!”

“Words can not express how my daughter has thrived at Oakland Children’s Academy. The teachers, staff and administration are exceptional, loving, caring and personally invested in the student's growth. The school provides a child centered environment that is driven by a desire to meet the specific educational needs of the child. Each child is able to work at a pace that supports their own developmental needs, therefore, building self-esteem and a lifelong love of learning. I love that the non-traditional approach to learning allows my child to start her day with hands-on work that she loves, while also being challenged to explore and possibly master things she may not be as comfortable with trying. And lastly she LOVES going to school and is growing and learning rapidly, and is having fun doing it! It's been a wonderful experience. We highly recommend OCA.”
