Nice dog parks. It's a decent size, but there are better dog parks in the area. The pond is a little concerning when it gets warmer out.
My dogs love this dog park!!
There is actually three options. Small dog area- has it’s one entrance. And two large dog areas/main entrance. There are two paths when you first enter the main dog large park. Right entrance is a path that opens into woods and then to the pond. The pond is not treated and there are warning signs. So proceed with caution if you allow your dog to swim or drink the water. There are algae that grows on the waters.
The left path is more of a walking path with a little wood for coverage. It takes you to an open dog field where the dogs can run around. Warning that it can be muddy. This dog field has a shelter for owners and even has a heating lamp!
There is a gate that connects the dog field/shelter to the pond/woods side. My dogs preferred the pond/woods area as they love to explore the woods.
There are hiking/walking trails around the dog park and your dogs can go hiking with you. However they will need to be leashed.
I love taking my dog here. Always friendly people and I have never had an issue with the other dogs. The only thing to watch out for or at least be aware of, which is kind of obvious, but when it's slushy or has rained a lot your dog will be dirty. So make sure you are prepared as far as in your vehicle.
Revised 12/01/2021.
I've been bringing my Corgis here for about a year and I have added a star. We pay the annual fee at a couple other parks but almost always choose to take our dogs to Alimagnet. Sure, it's the closest to us but there's also a couple other things I've noticed that make this park better than the others
[1] - Ample waste bins. There are a lot scattered around the park. I'm pretty sure these are maintained (emptied) by patrons and volunteers so do your part and take them to the entrance if they're full. Most other parks have bins only at the entrance/exit.
[2] - Heated shelters for humans. If you're the type that likes to stand in one place and be somewhat comfortable on those cold and windy days, it's definitely a plus.
[3] - Occasional events. Sometimes you'll be able to buy ice cream for yourself and/or your furry companion...bonus!
[4] - People working in the background to keep the park clean, safe, and hospitable. I don't know who you all are but thank you.
I have read some other reviews and I don't necessarily agree that Alimagnet is less clean or that owners are less mindful of their pets. Good practice at any park is to clean up a mess if you see one even if it's not yours. If you didn't realize that it's not always possible to know what your dog is doing 100% of the time, you're relatively new to dog ownership :) I have experienced a couple dogs getting overly excited but wouldn't classify it as a pattern or unique to this park.
There's a 'small' dog meeting area at the entrance and a 0.4 mile fenced in loop around a small pond with a sign posted that the water can become stagnate and dangerous to dogs during warmer months. Because the water area is separate from the rest of the park, it is possible to keep your dog out of that area altogether which is nice if they lack willpower like mine do. Opposite the entrance, there's a larger area for more energetic or bigger dogs to play and fetch; this is usually devoid of any grass as it gets trampled daily so on wet days, prepare your dog bath ahead of time. Gates by the entrance and outside the large dog play area help contain your dog but the overall area is small enough that you don't have to worry about completely losing track of your furry friend. There are usually free pet waste bags supplied by a local pet store and I've gone at various times and haven't encountered overcrowding.
Also, it's (1) FREE and (2) convenient and thus the perfect place for my stubby 6 month old corgi who is now over a year and my new 6 month old corgi.
