“I stayed at North Ridge with my wife for 3 weeks in December to recover from Covid. I cannot stress enough how wonderful the staff was to us. When I got to the home the staff unpacked my things and were very welcoming. I was worried about my wife, and the staff helped me see her, and treated her and I wonderfully. The staff also worked closely with my family via phone and kept them updated on our progress. The therapy staff worked hard to get me up and walking again, and to gain my strength back so I could return home. The food was great with lots of variety. “Hy-Vee only gets a 4-star rating today and that will probably be the highest they will be able to achieve from now on. The loss of one star is due to the $85.00 extra hold they want to place on your debit card in addition to the purchase price of the gasoline you buy. An example is: you purchase $50 in gas, Hy-Vee charges your card $135. That's a hold on $85 of your money that you no longer have access to. Hy-Vee says your financial institution can release the hold or will eventually. A person should not have to make the extra effort to get their own money back for something they didn't spend it on. I use a credit card for gas so this isn't an issue for me personally but I certainly can see where this could cause a lot of financial problems for a lot of people. Hy-Vee, normally you are on top of things with customer service, but you got this one wrong.”
