We had a most wonderful time, Steve our bartender was very entertaining and personable, he made our experience enjoyable and we will come back again, would love to have an employee like him! Thanks Steve!
I was having a beyond terrible day. I came into the Mermaid n was instantly greeted with a smile from a charming bartender named Jared. He was attentive, professional n just all around a great time . He kept checking on us to make sure we were good. We chatted, laughed n I can say he def turned my day around. This man needs a raise ❤️👌💪 Thsnk you Jared 💁🏻♀️
Today, I went to the Mermaid in Mounds View for the first time. The Mermaid participates in the Kids Bowl Free program in which kids can bowl two games for free at least once a week over the months of summer break. I paid $13.00 for shoe rental for both of my children and for myself. The bowling alley closest to my home, in Brooklyn Park, isn't currently participating in the free bowling for kids. It was a quick drive to the Mermaid, and I felt comfortable there. Inside the Mermaid, there are wide-open areas that are spacious, organized, clean, and well-lit. It didn't have the chaotic feel of the bowling alley near my home. There, the lights are always turned down low, and there are often jarring random sounds coming from the many different arcade games and from the speakers, too, I would guess. The Mermaid employee who helped us was helpful and had a calm, knowledgeable demeanor. I will happily return to the Mermaid with my children next week.
This place is great! We take the kids there bowling on a regular basis. The Axe Throwing, darts, and watching sports are a good time when we leave the kids at home and hang out with friends. It's a traditional sports bar and the atmosphere, servers, and clientele are exactly what you would expect. However, they do a better job keeping it clean than most sports bars and there is more space to spread out. The food varies. The cheese curds are out of this world, the pizza is cardboard, and everything else falls in-between.
Fun family outing! Lots of games, the bowling was great and the food was good too! The space is really big so we felt like we had plenty of room for our family.
