“I don't really know what people expect from a county run detox center. No one is throwing hundreds of thousands of dollars at them to make it a five star facility. I just got out of Ramsey County Detox after spending not quite 48 hours there, and I have nothing but good things to say about the staff there. I have been to that detox a few times and when I went years ago, it was not a good experience. The staff was indifferent and didn't want to be bothered. This time, and the time before, the staff was amazing and I had two separate staff members go out of their way to tell me their stories and how I could and WOULD stay sober if I wanted it, and I do want it. My counselor was amazing, and the physician assistant I spoke with on two occasions impacted me more than she''ll ever know. I encountered nothing but kindness there, and for that, I'm grateful. If you want to go to a high-end detox facility then find one and pay an arm and a leg. It's your choice if having your own room and a chef to make meals for you is what you want to get out of the experience. I was just happy to actually be helped emotionally and mentally when I was there - that's all I could have asked for. So I thank the staff from the bottom of my heart for that.”
