In response to @Jolaine: I have found Fr. Bakker to be incredibly personable and friendly! He is a very reverent priest who gives really good homilies.

I think sometimes folks focus too much on each other during mass instead of focusing on Christ.

wondering the circumstances where you found him unfriendly... was mass happening? Were you in the church? Was he praying? Either way, hes a really good priest and you should give him a fair shake!

Wonderful parish and community. I love Father Neil and how he follows tradition. Very reverent Mass at 8am on Sunday. Faith formation director and parish staff are wonderful and devout Catholics. Very pleased with the church and they have wonderful adoration hours! Vibrant parish life.

I've been going to church here since I was born. I was baptized at St. John's, went to the catholic school K-6, made my first communion here and attended religion classes until my confirmation. It is one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen. It's a fairly large church with a large congregation so if you're not into big churches then this one wouldn't be for you. The people that attend St John's Catholic Church all are very friendly and welcoming. They have a couple different options as far as mass goes which is convenient when you have (five) kids or any number of kids for that matter. You can attend Saturdays 5:30-6:30 evening mass which seems a little more relaxed then Sundays or you can attend mass Sunday mornings from 8-9 or 10-11. Its nice to have options. Overall i would have to say St Johns is a wonderful church!!!
