Can't praise this place enough! I had a problem with my motor starting that had me stumped. I had already replaced a few parts on my own with no success. I was working in the neighborhood and stopped by after work to try a different part. I wasn't even done explaining my situation and the guy behind the counter had already figured out what i needed. He talked me out of the part i had originally came in for and into a fairly obscure part i didn't know existed or could have even been a possible problem(diode) . Without his expertise i would have bought the wrong part and likely ended up bringing my boat to the shop since this was likely my last attempt. You can tell these guys have miles of experience and can't recommend this place enough.
Seriously the best. Easy, straightforward. Good American.
Professional, competent and courteous service. My work, a trolling motor install, was completed on time and at a reasonable price. I would not hesitate to use Shakopee Marine in the future and will certainly recommend them to friends, relatives or anyone in need of knowledgeable help. Skip the "big name" places and talk with these guys first. You'll leave happy.
Very helpful and quick response to a question I had. Will go to them first for any service I need done.
John is not from this time--and that's a good thing! He's from a time when customer service reigned supreme, when honesty and trust were paramount and when businesses did little value adds without charging customers because they had integrity and it was the right thing to do. I reached out to John because my father-in-law has been going to him for over 20 years. I immediately liked his no-nonsense nature and no pressure approach. When I dropped my boat off I was happy to see a customer area that was clean and organized. Upon initial review of my boat John was already giving me pointers and tips of how I can take care of my boat. He was educating my wife and I on things we would have had no idea. After his initial review, he said that our tilt/trim motor needed to be replaced. He wasn't pushy at all when he delivered the news and gave me plenty of options. He also diagnosed WHY the motor went out and shared that information with me. We also had him look at our electronics (live well, bilge pump, lights) and he fixed all of them.
I think the key to any interaction with a business is how you feel after dealing with them. I feel great about my interactions with John and he has a customer for life. He went above and beyond for me and saved me time and money. He didn't take any shortcuts and his work was top notch. Seriously, give John a shot and he won't let you down.
