Kids Abilities

We have worked with several different staff here and have had great experiences with all of them. They genuinely care about the kids/families they work with. My son has made much progress and loves going to therapy. We are grateful to have been referred here.

BEST pediatric therapy center in the metro! My son has a severe form of cerebral palsy, resulting in complete dependence for gross motor, fine motor, oral motor, and all communication. Because he's so severely affected, we started out at Gillette for OT, SLP, and PT. The schedule and commute got to be too cumbersome, so I reluctantly switched to Kid's Abilities. I was nervous about not having a center attached to a hospital that specializes in neuromuscular disorders. Switching therapies was the BEST decision I ever made for my son and our family. The quality of therapy was NOT compromised in the least; in fact, I think the quality of therapy is better. The therapists are experienced and consistent. They have always worked with us in terms of schedules and services, and always take into account what is best for not only our son, but our entire family.

More importantly, they care immensely about my son and his progress. They treat him like a little boy, not just a client. They have high expectations of him, yet are patient and understand his limitations. They see his potential and aren't afraid to push him. My son requires PT 3 times per week, OT 2 times per week, and SLP services 2 times per week. We have been going to them for over 2 years, and have not had one negative experience. They work with us to find the best fit in terms of therapists, too, and are professionals about it.

On top of the quality service they provide, they exceed my expectations (which are very high) in terms of communication and collaboration with my son's care team, school team, and intensive therapists. They always include me in conversations, and initiate communication with his medical and school professionals to ensure continuity of care. They are the most responsive communicators we have ever worked with (and my son has 22 specialists).

I should also mention my daughter receive's services for a mild articulation disorder. She LOVES her speech therapist, but also her brother's team. This demonstrates their skills and ability to provide top-notch service from the most severely affected (my son) to the most mild concerns (my daughter), and everything in between.

The staff attend training and seek out professional development to further their understanding of my son's conditions, and continually provide helpful recommendations and guidance for home. Perhaps most importantly, they have been supportive to me as I grieve my son's disability. The first year of his life was extremely difficult, and they provided patience, support, empathy, and grace every session. They celebrate his accomplishments, and are "with us" during the setbacks. They understand that daily life can be hard. I have never felt that he is "just a client." They go above and beyond for us in every way.

The Kid's Abilities team are not just skilled, knowledgeable professionals, but simply GOOD people. Our family would not be able to "do" this life without the support and guidance from KA, and I'm so thankful we don't have to!
