Wardens museum sits in front of this lovely stairway. Climb the 100+ stairs, it's beautiful at the top.
If you are in Stillwater this museum is a must see. The tour takes about an hour, and the guides are very good on introduce you to the atmosphere of the period. They tell you stories about prison inmates, about the families that lived there, and in perfect Victorian style ghost stories. The entrance is 5 dollars (1 for children).
We loved it. Kimberlee our tour guide was the best !!!
Fanatic historical gem in Stillwater. I love how it embraces different parts of history around the period, including haunted stories, a recent trunk show with period dresses, war time artifacts along with the building history itself.
Parking can be a challenge, but well worth an extremely reasonable $5 tour price. The last tour is at 4pm. I wish we had more time in each room as there is so much to look at. If you’re with a group with more than 5 it can be a bit crowded in each room.
Some of the rooms change with different exhibits, and I would be interested in a return visit to get to see more.
The director is fantastic and you really feel welcome.
