A loving a welcoming congregation! Would highly recommend if looking for a unity in Christ
I've known Pastor Roman for the past 5 years. He's a very intentional and diligent Shepherd for our Triune God. He has helped my family, and me personally, to grow in multiple ways! He's very smart, and tough-minded about holding to the sanctity and meaning of all 66 books in the Holy Bible. I believe he is truly gifted, by the Holy Spirit, in delivering clarity and significance, of the gospel message, in today's world. And, he is a very solid leader in Christ's Church too. However, don't take my word for it; come see for yourself. On Sunday's at 10 am and Wednesday Evening too.
Good church
The truth on fire. That's what Otsego Bible Baptist is. Not for those seeking "milk toast".
Not for nothing is this church named "Bible Baptist".
We attended Bible Baptist for six years, and one of the great challenges of moving away to pursue further education was having to leave this outstanding congregation. Chief among its many strong points is the attention to Scripture that BBC emphasizes. The preaching is "expository", which means that Pastor Roman is working through passages of Scripture, teaching the congregation what they mean and showing how they ought to be lived out. Usually, he is working all the way through a particular book of the Bible, such as Acts or Hosea, from beginning to end.
As well, the Christian Education hour before the morning service emphasizes the Scripture with some excellent teaching. Pastor Roman plans thoroughly a cycle of classes that help to ground the church in a right understanding of Scripture, and various teachers in the church cover areas such as church history, Bible overview, theology, apologetics (defending the Christian faith), and so forth.
In the morning services, the Scriptures are read aloud a chapter at a time as the church works its way through various biblical books. Generally, a different book is being read in the morning services than is being preached from, and this often brought about for me connections between the chapter that was read from a particular section of Scripture and the passage that was preached from another area of Scripture.
One of the most heartening things about the church was that after lessons and sermons, we found so many of the congregation discussing the content of the teaching/preaching. Our children learned not only from the lessons and sermons, but also from the ensuing conversation. And in doing so, they learned not just about the content of the passage, but about the importance which the people of the church placed upon the Scriptures.
