I took private and instrument rating lessons here. I came back years later to work as an instructor. The experience on both sides was fantastic. They do fly older airplanes, but spend the time and money necessary to keep them in good working order. The trust I had in their maintenance was a major reason I chose to work there. Also, the owners are amazing people with kind hearts and they really do care about their students.
Mr. Ken and Mrs. Brenda has an awesome operation going here. They are so kind, they really treat you well with their southern hospitality. The instructors there are also very professional and very knowledgeable. I first trained at CTI and that was a waste of money because not only did I not learn much about the ground portion but they just didn't care and wanted you to extend your lessons so they can draw more money from your wallet. I recommend Air Venture if you want to get through a course where you actually learn how to be a great, professional pilot.
Took my plane in there due to carb issues and David immediately got in into the shop. I have never seen a shop crank out jobs the way they do. They got to my plane immediately and fixed the issue. There was a transient that came in there with an alternator belt issue and he was was in and out in less than 30 minutes. I also had an issue with my jumper cable door and Carl suggested an ingenious fix. These guys are rock solid! David and Carl will always greet you with a smile and they get stuff done. They both make you feel welcome and that you are a part of their family. What Carl and David did for me is beyond words and I will definitely be back!
I both took my first flight lessons here, and worked here as an instructor, all totaling about three years.
Given the chance to visit all of the schools in the area, this is my top pick both as a student and teacher. The aircraft are maintained by a solid team of in-house A&P Mechanics, the school is owned by an airline family, and the instructors are passionate about aviation. There is a full team of schedulers to take care of student schedule and comfort.
I wish I had more time to work and learn here!
