Our son began attending NorthStar Academy as an 8th grader. He discovered a love for online during the pandemic and wanted to attend a Christian academy dedicated to online learning as an 8th grader to see if it would be a good fit for high school. We agreed to try it for one year and decided on NorthStar Academy. Our experience at NorthStar Academy has been fantastic from day one. Our son has been able to thrive in the online learning environment. He has been challenged and has grown in every way, including independence. Every one of his teachers has been so committed to their students and so willing to provide support when needed. He has been able to develop wonderful relationships with them. The administration has been equally as wonderful, as they are always willing to provide support and assistance. NorthStar Academy’s AP and Dual Credit Administrator, Melissa Moreno has been a tremendous blessing to me as a parent. After attending a parent informational meeting that she hosted, I reached out to her with questions. Our son has ambitious goals with regard to dual credit courses in high school and she has shared such a wealth of knowledge and experience with me. She has so kindly taken the time to understand my son’s particular goals and needs and invested her time and energy to help me to carefully examine his high school dual credit course options in order to develop the best plan for him to meet his goals, while also having a wonderful high school experience at NorthStar Academy. Her willingness to listen, converse, and think outside the box with me has been invaluable. NorthStar Academy was highly recommended to us by a trusted, dear friend. We started at NorthStar Academy cautiously hopeful that it would be a good fit and now continue with a definitive commitment for our son to attend NorthStar Academy for the duration of high school. We are thankful for each and every person that has been a part of our journey at NorthStar Academy. Thank you NorthStar!
We enrolled our daughter last year due to the pandemic, and I can tell you as a Mom who takes great pains to seek out excellent education, we have been thrilled with our experience at NorthStar. Our daughter entered last year for 8th grade and wanted to continue for high school. She has thrived and grown in her faith and in her character due to the time and attention of her North Star teachers and caring staff. It truly has been a time of enrichment for her in stabilizing her foundation so she has the best tools available to grow into the person God intends. It has also strengthened her critical thinking skills and organizational abilities. She thrives working independently. The NorthStar staff know how to do online school; how to work with parents to support their children; and fully understand the extra care and attention it takes to create a thriving online, compassionate community of youth, parents and teachers. I have been truly impressed because I know the work and effort it takes to accomplish such a goal, not only on the technology side and educational standards side, but more importantly on the people side of it all, and God cares about people and our children, so it matters. We are abundantly grateful and look forward to her upcoming year. Thank you NorthStar staff and teachers for all you do. Grace and peace to you from the Dear family.
I did online school through NorthStar for my senior year of high school and loved it! The teachers were amazing and the student body was easy to connect with online!
We took the Honors Biology class. The content was well presented and clear. The teacher was always accessible through Teams or email. He responded very quickly to our questions. He graded the work and gave helpful feedback. I appreciate the Chapels and Connects activities.
NorthStar Academy has been a wonderful learning experience for our son. The education is high quality, flexible learning. In addition, they offer a wide range of coursework which includes general high school education course work, honors classes and dual enrollment credits. The teachers and staff are caring and always available. Online learning is more than just a computer screen, it is flexible learning and building relationships with classmates, teachers, with a Christ centered education.
