After 4 years, 3 ENTs, 3 hearing tests, and a neurologist all misdiagnosing me, a friend referred me to Dr. Luce. Her office is nearly and hour drive for me and I was a hesitant to make an appointment and risk hearing the same diagnosis: that my hearing is perfect and my symptoms of vertigo and ear pain is something that will come and go and I will need to learn to live with them.
I decided to give Dr. Luce a try and, lucky for me, someone had cancelled an appointment and she was able to see me the same week. Dr. Luce is wonderful; She asked me questions none of the other ENTs I visited had asked, she is direct, to the point, skilled, thoughtful, and kind. She made the effort and took the time to send me for labs, an mri, and an in-depth hearing and balance test. Once the lab results were in she referred me to an excellent rheumatologist who sent me for more labs. Rather than lazily advising me to stay within her medical group, she referred me to her professional colleagues that she knew were best trained to help me get to the bottom of my ongoing symptoms. I finally have a diagnosis that is accurate and explains my symptoms that, in some ways, I will just have to live with. However, her perseverance and tenacity saved my sanity and led me a diagnosis that, as she would say, "isn't great news", but the symptoms can be greatly reduced by making a few simple dietary and lifestyle changes. On a side note, Dr. Luce was also able to refer me to a great neurologist who diagnosed me with carpal tunnel syndrome and now I have begun corrective steps to drastically reduce the amount of pain I was in from that.
My first visit with Dr. Mary Luce was about 1.5 years ago and every time I am able to avoid triggering my vertigo, I think about this crazy, long journey and how incredibly thankful I am to have been willing to drive out of my way to risk being given another mediocre, at best, diagnosis.
Finally, and I mean this with the most genuine sincerity, Dr. Luce is the best and I am seriously lucky to have her on my side.
She was amazing and so was the staff. Very informative and made us feel so comfortable but above all made our 2 year old feel safe and the Dr. Personally called to check on him after surgery
