Has great features, but can be a mess. The view from the overlook is great. The path to the overlook is mostly paved, so it's not messy after rain or thaw. Along the way is a nice waterfall and a few good rock formations. It's near other hiking trails, convenient to visit on the same day as Hilda J Young or LaBarque or on the way to Don Robinson.
The trail after the overlook can be a mess, so it can be best to return on the mostly paved portion. Otherwise it loops back to near the start. Currently (early 2023) there's a lot of ugly logging with many trees removed and some logging roads and bulldozer tracks. The electric company recently replaced some high voltage towers. As good as the view is from the overlook, there's bad land use on the other side of the river.
    Might be hunters in season.
The pond is gone, so don't bother taking any fishing gear on the trail.

Really nice park and trail. The elevation isnt bad and parts of the trail are gravel. It winds thru some really pretty areas. The lake is completely empty. First time there, looking forward to returning in the spring. Lots of moss and mushrooms!

Great area for hiking. Nice 3mile round trip. Dogs are allowed on leash. Saw some people but not crowded.

Great little trail! It took us about 2 hours to hike with 4 little kids. My only suggestion is that they add more blazes through the woods, because the leaves were down and it was a big hard to see the trail in some places. Also, the grassland trail needs to be trimmed a bit more. Otherwise, it was lovely. I'd do it again.

Great, medium intensive, 3 mile plus primary trail. Variety of fields, streams, ponds, and forests. Lots of inclines and winding trails. Fun and challenging for amateurs and the experienced, alike. Make the trip to this nicely put together park.
