The volunteers give their time to help injured and abandoned wildlife get a second chance at life free in the wild.

I’ve volunteered here for a while now, this place is amazing and really cares for the animals that are brought in. Especially since it works solely on donations and unpaid work!!

I have brought a squirrel, a chipmunk, and a baby opossum here over the past couple of years, and the clinic has been amazing. The (probably very dehydrated, if I had to guess) chipmunk was returned to us to be released a week later after being nursed back to health, and I was told that the opossum would be released to a less populated area that would have a close and consistent source of water. The squirrel had a traumatic brain injury, from what I could tell from researching while my mom was driving us to the clinic, and I don't know what they did with that squirrel, but it had to have been better than slowly dying on the road where I found it.

We found 2 very young bunnies (eyes not even open) and could not find their nest. It was quite late, but someone answered the phone and let us know what to do and where they were located; we took them out there the next morning. She explained how they would care for them. I was really impressed with the caring attitude.

We found 2 baby squirrels in our basement. Called the city and they had no more room for baby squirrels at their rescue since it was “season.” Called High Ridge and they were more than happy to take them for rescue & rehabilitation. Nancy was also great to talk to on the phone, which was a change after calling around for more than an hour and talking to a lot of other rescues which were less than polite. Good people doing good things for animals. 👍
