Very nice area with a lot of lakes and an almost 4-mike hiking trail. Today, 11/13/23, was clear and sunny. After so many dry days, the roads throughout the area were very dusty, so not good to walk. The visitor center had good, clean bathrooms and the staff was friendly. My only pick was that the little signs along the trail behind the visitor center were in poor shape and I couldn't read them.
I fish BWL a lot. There are plenty of fish to go around. Sizes vary, but there are big ones out there. Of course, the lakes are fished hard due to their proximity to St. Louis. I still enjoy just spending time outdoors.
This is a beautiful area with over 30 lakes, which offers a diverse range of recreational activities such as hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, and bird watching. There are still about 100 WWII TNT storage bunkers in the area, and those were fun to see! August A Busch Memorial Conservation Area is a great place to enjoy nature!
We had our church group at a private lake. What a exciting time for the children to be able to catch so many fish!
Very nice to have a conservation area so close to home. Packed a picnic with the kids then went into the nature center. They are always so nice and welcoming. On the way in we saw a black rat snake in the vegetation.
