Rockwoods Reservation

Hiked the Turkey Ridge Trail at Rockwoods Reservation. It's a 2 mile loop through the woods up a large hill. The trail winds up the hill and then back down. It's a really well kept trail. Unpaved and this type of trail will always be rocky in some spots. It's a great workout. You'll be winded going up if you aren't in the best shape. I definitely was! But it's easy to stop and take a break, with several benches on the trail.

We did the Trail Among the Trees on a very nice February day. It hadn't rained in a few days, so the trail was nice and dry, but there were a few spots that would be a mess after a good rain. Most of the trail was narrow but paved. There were a lot of interesting stopping points, including several overlooks with benches.
Toward the end of the trail, the pavement ended, and we walked down into an old quarry, near a large creek bed. The rocks were covered in a thick layer of deep green moss, but there were enough bare spots to climb on. Understand the rocks was a cool cave-like area just big enough to climb into.
There is also a closed off cave toward the end that was interesting to check out. You can't climb in, but it's still worth climbing around & adventuring around.

Arrived to the Rock Quarry Trailhead at 9am this morning. Wasn't terribly crowded. Hiked the Rock Quarry, Trail Among The Trees, and the Lime Kiln Trail. Not too many people and the woods were just beautiful. Saw my first frost flowers ever!!! Will be back in the Spring.

Beautiful trails, campgrounds, picnic sites. Paved and dirt trails. Great for hiking, road or mountain biking, treking, camping or just to go and be surround by peaceful nature

Tried trail among the trees, lime kiln loop trail and rock quarry trail. They are absolutely fun and full of green! If it’s closer, I will definitely go often! Btw, stop on the way to the trails, the alpacas are very friendly!
