We did a shortcut that is to go across the creek before the trial ends and joined the other side. By doing that, we kind of hopped onto the Whispering Pine. We saw two arrows after that. We followed the first one. But when we were at the second one, it started to rain heavily, so we turned left and did the shortcut again (to look for the creek while follow the unofficial trial, which is semi-visible), and in the end, went across the creek, and hopped onto the platform of the parking lot. Not the wisest moves, and we did get scared at one point, as the day started to get dark. Follow the trails always.
Great place to spend the day and go for a hike with family. Nice trails for all levels of hikers. Great overlooks and cave like cutouts. Beautiful scenery and well-maintained Park. No bathroom on site FYI but plenty of places to have a nice picnic. Pack a lunch and spend the day on the trails.
This was a neat little hike. We did the 2.1 mile loop that included the creek, and the overlook. It wasn't well marked, and actually said end of trail, but if you cross the creek you can continue on and complete a loop back to the parking lot.
Less than a mile technically, but takes you to the Whispering Pine trail and follows the pretty Pickle Creek the entire way. Rocky and somewhat advanced at spots, but short and sweet. Many people will take this trail to simple find a spot in the creek to chill.
Continuing on the Whispering Pine trail can add another 6ish miles so plan accordingly if you plan to keep going. Otherwise, this is a non-looping trail technically.
This trail will connect with Whispering Pines Trail for a longer hike. You can take either white cross-trail to shorten or lengthen your hike. Trail maps available at trailhead.
