Lucid Jiu Jitsu is by far the best BJJ gym I have ever trained at. The family environment, humble attitude, and quality instruction are all world class!!!

I just moved to the area from out of state and wanted to get back into BJJ. Learning from my past experiences in choosing a gym I made the commitment to drop into several gyms throughout the area before I settled on where to train. I had relatively good experiences at all the gyms throughout the area but did feel as if something was still missing. I ran across Lucid Jiu Jitsu just as I was about to sign up at a different gym and I am extremely thankful I did!

Upon arriving for my first class at Lucid you could immediately feel there was something different about it. The gym was filled with good music and I found owner Matt Biemick working with a brown belt. The instruction and way Matt presents techniques immediately piqued my interest. I have never witnessed such a humble environment in a BJJ gym.

My first roll at Lucid sealed the deal for me. I rolled with a brown belt at the gym and I expected it to be the usually SMASH session I have always had with upper belts. To my surprise it was like no other roll I have ever had. While the roll was not easy the brown belt let me work and helped address issues throughout the rolls we had together. There was no doubt the brown belt could have tapped me at any moment, but it was refreshing to actually feel like I learned something during the roll and not like I was mauled over and over again.

I initially thought this was a one off and most likely just the brown belt's demeanor. To my surprise later on when I rolled with Matt I found the same thing. A hard roll where nothing is given, but an opportunity to learn. Matt's philosophy on training and the way he approaches teaching is unparalleled.

If you are ever in the Las Vegas/Henderson, NV area or just looking for a new BJJ gym do yourself a favor and stop in!

I originally came in to sign my son up but decided to sign up myself after the second day. It was a bit nerve wrecking since I have never trained in any Martial Art. Coach Matt and Jennifer are very welcoming and are great at teaching the techniques needed to advance. Overall great place for kids or adults. The rest of the advanced guys and gals are great training partners for a newbie like me or other pros!

Professor Matt is soo talented and develops his jiu jitsu with some of the highest level competitors in the sport. His jiu jitsu expertise, combined with his good nature, sense of humor and strength of character, make learning from him an endeavor that is sustainable. I've learned from him and with him almost everyday for years and I still look forward to it each day! With him and his wonderful and supportive wife at the helm, Lucid will certainly meet your expectations.
