Calico tanks was my favorite trail. It’s definitely a little more aggressive so if you are opposed to climbing over rocks and kind of creating your own trail to the top, this trail is probably not for you. It starts off relatively easy and gets exponentially harder. The views are incredible and the Ranger and told us to go past the big tank and climb up the opposite wall for an incredible view of Las Vegas and red rock canyon. It was very impressive. The beauty was unimaginable too. I would highly recommend this hike over the others that we did!
One of the best trail hikes - and dog friendly too! But watch out for the big boulders: I would call this a moderate difficulty hike and it would be tough to do with very young kids or small dogs. It takes about 30 minutes out and back (15 mins out then turn around and come back) with a great overlook of the whole downtown at the end. Go to the overlook on the right first, where you’ll naturally be led by the trail. Then go to the lookout on the left side. Some people climb higher up the rocks for a better view, but that’s where we stopped because it’s not passable with dogs. Took us 42 mins total including hangout time at the end.
