My real name is Zachary. About 15 years ago, I was a child. I was raised by a single mother, we were kicked out of dozens of apartments and struggled to eat. At the time, I was too young to understand anything and took a bit of aging to understand what was going on around me.

My mother raised three children by herself. My brother and I had the same father, but our sister had a different dad. Our father left before I was born. My mom was telling me how I shouldn’t have been born. I feel very lucky to be where I am today, to be alive.

At one time we failed to pay the rent, my brother and I were scared because our mom was deeply upset. I remember this building in the picture, I had no idea why we were here. Kathy saved us, and this foundation has saved many lives.

People do not understand how extreme poverty can become in inner city neighborhoods. Childhood poverty was rampant, and I was just another statistic. Kathy is a woman of god, she is sympathetic. It was her decision to open this place to help others. We must recognize her selflessness and the so many lives she has touched.

Back in 1991 I was in a very abusive relationship became pregnant and my husband had made an appointment for me to have an abortion and he took ALL of my clothes to work with him so I couldn't leave. Thanks to Kathy and several sources they paid for a ride to get me to the house on airmount then I found out I was having twins I became a house mother on prospect and I am forever grateful to Kathy and several sources I now have 28 year old twin boys
