(July 6, 2015, 10:06 pm)Leaming's Run gardens A lovely little family owned and operated garden, on a historic property. Thomas Leaming built a home for his wife (Hannah, a great grand daughter of of John and Elizabeth Howland of the Mayflower) in 1706. They raised their 7 children there. The house still stands on the property and has been continuously occupied for 309 years, over 200 of them in the Leaming family. The property was bought in the 1970's by the Jack Aprill and his wife who raised their 4 sons in the Thomas Leaming house and slowly turned the heavily wooded land into acres of garden, ponds nature preserve and humming bird haven. The lovely garden is now maintained, almost singlehandedly by Jack"s charming daughter in law, Missy, who discovered years after living and working there, that she is a direct descendent of Thomas and Hannah Leaming!
