I was here for 30 mins total without an appt. They saw me very quickly, helped with new SS card quickly. In n out, one of the best government building experiences ive had
Reading all the reviews, I was worried that the trip to the SSA office was going to be annoying since trying to call and make an appointment is useless. However, the visit went smoothly.
Couple of tips for anyone going, go very early to ensure that you do not have to wait long to be seen. I arrived around 8:50am, there were a couple of people ahead of me waiting on line outside. I got in and got my ticket # by 9:02am. I waited 20 minutes until it was my turn. Total time spent since I arrived was less than an hour.
The person helping me out with processing all the official documents was nice. He explained everything I wanted to know.
Big reminder: wear a mask!! Security will not allow you in unless you are wearing a mask!
No, need appointment to apply for social security card. Just submit online application and print out the confirmation and show it to the officer at your visit. A mask is required and all original documents must be brought to the office. Our visit went very well and officer was extremely nice and helpful. It only took us 1 and half hour of waiting as webarrived there 9 AM in the morning. Try to come earliest you can as there will be a big cue. Officer who took interview deserves 10 stars, showed an extreme professionalism and down to Earth.
I went Wednesday at noon (no appointment - repeated calls were not picked up, so was unable to schedule an appointment - they need online appointment scheduling), had to await an hour and 15 minutes or so, but processing was done in 15 minutes. Staff that handled the paperwork was nice and professional. Was submitting proofs needed for medicare application that was submitted before, but they re-issued SS card as my record did not have US citizen status listed, so I had to provide proof and submit SS-5 form. Was done in 1.75 hours, so not really that bad. Staff I dealt with was good. Lack of online appointments and ability to submit proof document scans online really needs to be addressed.
