Very helpful with all my parts I needed
My GOD what an amazing place with amazing professionals they are extremely nice & well organized. They fixed my Truck in one day. Thank you 🙏
We live fulltime in a 2015 Newmar Dutch Star motorhome on a Freightliner chassis with a Cummins diesel engine. On a trip in mid-June, from Virginia to New York to visit family, we began to experience a problem with erratic acceleration and rough pulling up long hills. Thinking it may be a fuel problem, we took it to a local truck repair shop in Florida, New York, where we were staying, to have the problem checked out. After the replacement of the fuel filter and water separator, the problem persisted.
We then contacted the Freightliner 24/7 service hotline in order to find the closest Freightliner Elite service center to make an appointment. As luck would have it, Campbell Freightliner of Sussex County, in Lafayette, New Jersey, was about 30 miles away and were able to schedule us only a week later. Other service centers we contacted could not even see us for 3 to 4 weeks, with no guarantee they could fit us in then.
We arrived at Campbell Freightliner of Sussex County at 7:30 am and they brought us in as soon as they opened at 8:00 am. Robert, our Service Representative, was extremely professional and was thorough in documenting our problem and communicating it to our service tech, Harry. Harry, who has been a service tech for decades, did a thorough computer analysis of our engine performance and any fault codes that were stored, but found no issues. We took the RV out for a drive, with Harry's computer connected so he could view any performance abnormalities while we drove. We physically experienced the "bucking" of the engine/transmission under hard acceleration, but the computer showed no engine problems.
Joe, was our shop connection and regularly kept us apprised of what was going on and repeatedly assured us that they would keep looking until they found the source of the problem. Both he and Harry took our RV out for a second test drive, and as is always the case when trying to isolate an unusual and erratic problem, the acceleration issue disappeared on this second drive and they were unable to make it reappear.
Concerned that the problem may be transmission-related, Harry ran a transmission diagnostic and provided us with a printed report showing that all was well with the transmission.
Although the team at Campbell Freightliner of Sussex County could not ascertain the exact cause of our problem, they spent the better part of the day trying to do so. Joe also advised us that the filter and water separator that were just installed, were “adequate” but not the ones recommended by Cummins, so we purchased the correct ones from their parts department to keep on hand.
They sent us on our way with a bill that was way below what we expected for almost a full day's work and told us that if the problem arose again shortly after we left, to come right back and they would dig deeper.
We highly recommend this shop for any Freightliner service. The facility (including driver’s lounge and restroom!) is immaculate, well-maintained, the staff totally professional and hospitable, and everyone we worked with demonstrated a level of technical competence and customer service that gave us all the confidence in the world that we were in good hands.
