Need Fishing License. License can be acquired in town at Alpine or Sunoco gas station. Natural outdoor settings for walking, hiking and recreation use. Plenty of parking in the area.
We had a wonderful hike at White Lake. A 3-mile hike there seems pretty long, btw. The terrain is up and down; sometimes uneven. But it is just beautiful, in all seasons! The history is very interesting if you want to Google it. There are a few interpretive signs, but there could be more. There are some very interesting remains of buildings out along the hikes. The property has been well restored in most areas with native grasses and flowers, so you should see a good variety of native butterflies and birds in season. The bottom of the lake actually is quite white, due to the remains of ancient shellfish after the glaciers came through. The history of limestone in the area is fascinating. Definitely worth a visit. Also a wonderful place for serene kayaking.
I had a nice sunset kayaking adventure. Much of White Lake is clear, so I enjoyed watching fish and turtles swim by.
We go here for the full moon kayak events. Peaceful on the water as the sun sets, watching fish jump to catch flies. It becomes dark, a little hard to see. Then the moon rises and the lake brightens with moonlight. Quite wonderful.
Beautiful place for the outdoor person. Trails are great but do bring the spray. If you like kayaking it's the time. Bring a fishing pole to enjoy, the fish are there. Make note; No fishing from the shore is allowed. Rules are posted for all to see. Job Johnny available on site.
