The woman is magnificent at what she does, including (but not limited to) cooking on the grill, making deli sandwiches, bagel sandwiches, or any of the other 3 million things an employee needs to do for a bagel store / luncheonette to be successful. We go there just because Phillis's cooking is AMAZING, and we're mesmerized by her innate ability to manage dozens of tasks, all at the same time. Bagel mania's bagels are the best around. The bagels they make are huge, packed with abundant flavor, and are perfect for making just about any kind of breakfast or lunch sandwich. I often buy them by the dozen, and toast them at home as a side for my dinner. Their cinnamon raisin, and their "super cinnamon" raisin bagels toast up like a round hunk of heaven, you can butter up with whatever meal you've made in the privacy of your own home. Love the place. The owner (Pop's) is a real great guy! Always smiling ! Always glad to see you! When my friends come here from out of state, I buy several dozen bagels for their ride home.”

“Update: years later, and I or my family comes here every time to pick up a bunch of lobster tails & cannolis for me. Legendary bakery. Been getting most of our Italian pastries from La Rosa's for decades, but I figured I should finally leave a review. Very good Italian bakery with stuff ranging from breads, to meat breads, to Italian pastries (especially cannolis and lobster tails/bear claws), to a really wide variety of cakes. They're a favorite amongst locals who need their fix of Italian desserts, but want to go above and beyond what you find at a supermarket. They take their work very seriously and make sure that every customer is satisfied- they even sat down at a table with us and worked out the details of my graduation cake! I have to add that their cakes (like my own cake) are fantastic- they are very reasonably priced compared to what you'd get for most custom-baked cakes in the area, and they offer unique fillings like cannoli cream. They take serious pride in their work and I really recommend them as someone who's lived in Central Jersey/eaten Italian desserts for his entire life. Oh, and their cannoli chips + cream are really really good. Great for taking to the beach if you have a cooler to put the cream in.”

My only complaint is that we called ahead with an order for pick up at a specific time. When we arrived they couldn't find the order at first. They found it eventually, but they hadn't put it together or made any of the sandwiches yet. It was a big order for a brunch, which is why we called ahead, and it took a while to get it all together.”

When I say she was genuinely nice and started to tell me her favorites so I can choose from it was like I known her forever because we were talking about other things as well.
