Great trail to sandia crest, pretty busy on weekends! Moderate elevation gain over 2 miles to the crest, and a wonderful view. There is a fee of 3$ to park, but there is a qr code as well if youre like me and don't carry cash ?
I am recovering from a full hip replacement and this trail was PERFECT for my leg/hip. JUST enough resistance. The trail is beautiful the ONLY thing that bummed me out was you can HEAR the road/motorcycles/traffic coming up the mountain. I REALLY wanted QUIET along with my peace, but I guess you CAN'T have it all ?♀️

Heavily shaded at 8,000 feet, a great summer trail.
Great hike but for us flatlanders the altitude took some getting used to. Amazing how one side of the mountains is desert and this side is all pine forest. We went on a Wednesday afternoon and only saw two other people on the trail. It was great to see the view of Albuquerque when we got to the top. We would highly recommend it and our dog liked it to.
