San Diego Indian Mission

Historic Church located in the Pueblo of Jemez. This is the "Mission" Church and the Main Pueblo Church is located up the street.

This is a place founded en 1608 by the Franciscans, in honor of San Diego of Alcalá (Spain). Guess the awesome experience to find yourself in the middle of nowhere ministering the native pueblos! For 400 years the Franciscans have been there without intermission, the witnesses of people set aside from the main class of immigrants, who had the power and the possibilities. The pueblos lives with the scarce means that a hard weather and a tough earth could give. You will admire the beautiful church with its five bells and nice old paintings. The chiefs of the pueblo are kind and affordable. This people do not live from the casinos like those in Laguna. Nevertheless they are a joyful pueblo and have memorable handcrafts.
