San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church

Beautiful piece of history this church has been here since 1839! And will hopefully remain open for many years to come

Beautiful and quick stop along the drive. Not much to see in the area, but great place to stop and stretch our legs on the drive.

What a beautiful place to visit and find your peace. This is one of my favorite places in New Mexico.

I was there for an unplanned visit back in the 90's when the whole structure was all white. I saw it from the hwy and it was so dramatic I felt compelled to visit. The fence was much closer and less tall then. Completely different actually. My memory of the fence is vague but I think it was very simple wood fencing. I don't believe it was adobe. One of my many photos of the church taken fairly close had the weirdest anomaly. Has a few bands like orange fire . One that runs up a small tombstone in form of cross. cross.
