The salon is freshly renovated so everything is updated and new. Great and relaxing atmosphere. Never gotten a bad haircut while there and always leave very happy.

In a word, AMAZING! Halie's technique for cutting curls was so thoughtful and the results speak for themselves. I have multiple cowlicks that help form my natural curls and I have never had a stylist so precisely pick them out on their own and then work them into the hair cut with such ease. I would highly recommend this salon to anyone looking for a haircut that will work with their natural texture! The other stylist in the salon was also polite and personable and the salon itself is adorable! I would give 10 stars if I could. :) Thank you Halie!

Update: I’ve gone back to Halie and received the hottest lady mullet in existence. I can now style my (unruly, curly) hair with just a comb and a blow dryer so basically Halie gave me super powers. Go see a stylist at the Alchemists and change your life!

I’ve been a client of Katie and Kevin’s at The Alchemists for a year and a half now. I’ve been hesitant to publish a review because the amount of positive things I can say about this salon and the stylists who work under its roof are endless, and it would be hard for me to be succinct. I found this salon through social media ads while we were still in 2020 lockdown and there was no telling when we’d be back in hair salons. My first visit with Katie was to fix my at home hair experiments during this time (bleaching and pastel color) and from my words she transformed my hair into the vision I had in mind, and beyond, with her own unique style and low tox products. I was blown away. It took me 23 years to find this incredible space in the capital region, which if you ask me, is way too long to find a salon you truly vibe with. However, I am finally effortlessly comfortable in a salon that provides incredible talent and happiness through their work. I have never felt better about myself and my hair since. I always always look forward to my appointments with excitement as I now see this space as one of my happy places, where I can come and truly relax during my appointment and I know walking out into the world with my amazing new hair will feel even better. This salon is truly a hidden gem of Albany

The salon itself is so beautiful and clean. Everyone there is very nice, professional and skilled. The time and detail Katie puts into each client shows how truly passionate she is about about her work. I have been going to Katie for many years and still only go to her even after moving out of state. My whole family now goes to her too! Her ability to make my color look so dimensional and natural shows how well she has perfected her craft. Do yourself a favor and make an appointment!

I used this salon a while back and had been meaning to write a review for some time. My experience was excellent. I went from mid-length/long hair to a super short pixie. I have fairly masculine features, so I was worried about the effect of this. However, my stylist really fine-tuned the cut to make it something very feminine which I absolutely adored. Also, overall, the experience was just very professional. It was clear that these folks knew what they were doing. Would give this place more stars if I could.
