New York State DMV - Albany

Best DMV I've ever been to. Looks like it was recently remodeled. Nice high ceilings and open floorplan that makes me feel safer in these times of covid. Lots of open parking too. I was called to the window before I even had a chance to sit down in the waiting area and it was 9:30. I thought it would have been crazy in there. I got my license and registration transferred to NY from California and it took maybe 30 minutes. The lady who helped me was super friendly and helpful as well. Five stars all the way.

This was my first time at this new location. It looks nice and clean inside. There was a security guard at the door. I didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes to be helped which was very nice. Some of the staff were friendly others not so much. I was happy however that I got to retake my photo a couple of times because I didn't like the photo.

Reservation system really streamlines the process. Being prepared ahead of time and making sure you read online materials thoroughly before you come down will save time.

Download and prepare your forms ahead of time. Vision exam requirement can be done locally to facilitate mail or online transactions.
