The River Garden Studio is a magical place, to say the least. I personally have recommended this place to all my favorite people. The staff is so knowledgeable and kind! My plants have been thriving thanks to Richard and Emily’s advice throughout the last year. 🪴🌱
Have some my favorite plants from this shop. The owner and his staff are knowledgeable and there are always new plants to choose from. Absolutely a must!!! Everything from monsteras, hoyas, cacti and more. Love love love it here
I wasn’t able to make any purchases today due to being in transition and already limited space with my 150 plants. However, I wanted to review the place based on my experience. The woman working (I hate that I didn’t ask her name) was so kind, knowledgeable and helpful. She engaged in a great conversation on plants without being rushed and made me feel valued even looking up something on her phone she had bought. All of the plants were extremely happy, pest free, healthy and in the right conditions. Additionally, the plant care instructions were actually accurate and clear. The place was beautiful and full of plants but still easy to navigate and not overwhelming. As someone who owns tons of plants and worked in a greenhouse, associates and owners who truly value their customers and actually Knowledgable in plant care is actually pretty rare sometimes. Additionally, having a ton of selection is important but so is making it even to navigate for all types of people and not overwhelming. They nailed it!
I desperately wanted a stunning cardboard palm and look forward to purchasing it once I am working again.
PLANT LOVERS, THIS IS YOUR PARADISE. Sheer beauty, this store. I've been coming to this stunning shop periodically for over a year and have yet to encounter a more vibrant and luscious plant store. The garden, farm, and plant stores in Boston, throughout Massachusetts, and New York are nice but this gem is my absolute favorite (the aesthetic - mmm vibes). It's almost impossible to walk out without purchasing something, so many treasures here!
Richard, who owns the shop, is incredibly knowledgeable and is great to talk to for your plant needs. He's given me SO MUCH AWESOME ADVICE and imparted lots of great information for me to care for my plants whether we're talking about sun exposure, water and drainage, soil conditions, pests, leaf coloring, which plants are hardy or dramatic, etc and it's always so much fun to learn a little (or a lot) of something new every time I go (and that's quite a number of times). Needless to say, customer service is excellent including from Emily, who frequently helps me find things I'm looking for (they're both awesome with it and other staff have been as well).
You can find some sweet pottery and planters, gifts, and of course, plants of many varieties. They sometimes have pottery from local potters as well :) I got a little preserved pine tree (still looks great a year later) for my guest bathroom and it's amazing since windows are nonexistent for that one.
If you want repotting services, you'll need to leave your plants there for a few days (they do a great job!) and charge is based on the amount of soil they use. They also have some great soil and potting mix for your own DIY repotting.
While there are other local gems and beautiful stores in Albany and in surrounding towns, this is my favorite in terms of decor and experience. Can you tell I'd recommend the place?
This place is gorgeous and I still don’t understand how all the plants look so healthy! Probably because they know what they’re doing. They provide me with thorough tips on how to take care of the plants I buy and they often pot them as well! I just love going here.
