Gothic castle architecture. Inside not open to public.
Formerly know as the Delaware & Hudson Railroad Company Building, the main tower rises to thirteen stories. The building, informally also referred to as the Castle 🏰, is one of the most iconic images of Albany, built 1914-1918. On top of the main tower is an eight feet tall weathervane replica of Henry Hudson’s Half Moon yacht, that sailed through the Hudson River in 1609 on his westward journey from Amsterdam.
Fantastic architecture a must see building in the states capital.
Only visited the exterior, but this building is impressive. Don't miss the historic marker in front about this being the former location of Fort Nassau (1614) and Fort Orange (1624), the first permanent Dutch settlement in North America. October 2021.
Beautiful building
