Great to see recent history preserved for future generations. Visitors in our group had family connections to former pilots.
Very educational museum. The air force personnel, Lanny, shared so much history and wonderful stories. My family felt very welcome.
We had a fantastic experience, our docent took his time to show us everything and made the kids feel so welcome! Frank took his time to explain everything and encouraged us to look at and touch true air force nostalgia. With a 11 year old history buff in the family it's hard to answer all of his questions without a blink, however Frank did just that and even managed to pique the history buff's interest and ours, with his passion for telling the story of the armed forces in Plattsburgh.
This place is incredibly interesting! They have two massive airplanes outside that you can go right up to and look at. The staff is also very friendly and knowledgeable. One individual we spoke with actually personally flew one of the planes. He told us his experience and the history behind the planes. He went in-depth about how/why the planes were named what they were and other really interesting facts. Great spot in Plattsburgh to visit!
This is a great museum. The docent when I visited was a KC-135 pilot and was stationed at Plattsburgh Air Force base until it closed in 1995. He was very nice and explained things to me. Donations are accepted, but it is free.
