There is always room for improvement. Dr. Kopp is a straight shooter, which my husband and I appreciate. After a high PSA came up in my husband's blood work in August 2018 and again in September 2018 we were referred to Dr. Kopp.
We got a quick appointment. After a physical examination, the doctor scheduled a biopsy as quickly as was available. When I asked him the chances of my husband having prostate cancer, he didn't sugarcoat it. Most likely, based on his numbers & the exam, he was almost 100% certain yes.
Coming in for the biopsy result I was prepared for the words. It was no surprise. I had done my research, I knew the words that would be used, I understood most of what Dr. Kopp said. What I didn't understand, he explained completely. He brought in a patient care representative from Cancer Center of WNY with him and she also answered all questions, scheduled the necessary consultations and tests. There was no gap in care between that first PSA and the first treatment in January 2019. We were given plenty of time to make our decision, plenty of consultations to determine if the diagnosis was correct, what the right course of treatment would be.
My husband, as of June 20, 2019, is cancer-free. I have never seen a doctor so happy in all my life with a big smile on his face, telling use that the PSA was undetectable.
The staff goes above and beyond. They know exactly what needs to be done to get insurance authorization for necessary treatments and procedures. They get it done quickly. They are kind, caring and we have never waited more than 5 minutes to see Dr. Kopp. Even when we're very early for an appointment, we see him early.
We'll be seeing Dr. Kopp at least once a year probably for the rest of my husband's life, which due to Dr. Kopp's prompt and complete attention, will, god willing, be another 20 to 30 years.
You need to do your research and ask questions. A doctor can't help you if you don't ask questions. Be as informed as possible. Be your own advocate. Dr. Kopp appreciates when his patients come to him with questions and always answers them to the best of his ability. When he doesn't have the answer, he finds it.
Dr. Kopp is a very knowledgeable and excellent Urologist. The staff is very friendly and courteous. I would highly recommend.
