Joe the owner would be a successful shop owner in any sector of the business world. He just happens to be in the bike business. With that said, what a wonderful experience it was purchasing a bike from him. No needless up selling from him - just pure knowledge, facts, and know how. I was seeking a Kona for commuting and it's a beauty. 5 star operation!
Note: not a full service bike shop.
I stopped by 718 Cyclery before they were even open and despite not being a full service bike shop nor being officially open Joe was very willing to help!
Joe suggested another bike shop I could go to and also took the time to look at my bike and offer advice as to what could be wrong.
I also learned that the shop organizes about 20 bike camping trips a year and the trips are very welcoming!
This is a fabulous bike shop. Joe, the owner, is super friendly and super knowledgable. I recently bought a gravel bike from him, and he was so helpful throughout the process. Really took the time to talk me through different options and what different choice might mean in terms of performance or maintenance. If you are looking for a gravel or touring bike, this is the place to go!
718 Cyclery is my favorite bike shop in all of NYC. The owner, Joe, has an incredible passion for bike camping, and he is always excited to share his knowledge with anyone that comes into his shop with questions. It's a well curated store with great items at fantastic prices, and if they don't have an item you're looking for, Joe can get them in quickly. Joe also leads amazing bike tours ranging from an over night to week long bike camping trips. I took the Buffalo to Albany 6 day tour with him and cannot recommend it enough to anyone interested in bike camping. Every detail of the tour was sorted by Joe beforehand, and even with ever changing weather (and even smoke from Canadian wildfires) he had a plan for the group even before we woke up. 718 also hosts bike camping workshops as well as community events that I highly recommend. If you love the outdoors and bike camping, this shop is a must visit!
Coolest bike shop in Brooklyn. I’ve always wanted to go on a bike tour, but they seem to sell out very quick. Small shop. Curated items in stock. He can build you the touring bike of your dreams
