pretty authentic Indonesian restaurant by my standards, and had really delicious food to share with four people. had the sampler which included lots of different meat varieties, and had the tumpia which was a tasty cheesy appetizer, and the soup was very good, and all the sauces were delicious. delicious. I would recommend getting the Garuda drink which is reminiscent of mango lassi. We shared the migoren and fried rice dish, and had lots of food to spare. had a great time and very wonderfully accommodating and friendly staff who helped us through our messy reservations in take photos of the group. highly recommend!
I have been going to Java ever since I was about 2 years old. My entire family knows the owner well. In my 30 years of going to this restaurant, I have never had a bad meal. Every single meal is delicious, unique, and nostalgic to me. Rafia puts her heart and soul into these dishes. We get a little piece of her home with every bite. I love Java and hopefully, when I have my children we can enjoy a wonderful Indonesian dinner as I have many moons ago.
First time having Indonesian food and I loved it. The tapas were great. It was nice to be able to have a taste of the menu.
Java is an authentic Indonesian restaurant in Brooklyn. The food is delicious and the service is always friendly. We ordered chicken satays, fried tempe (soybean cake) and sayur lodeh (vegetable cooked with spice and simmered in coconut milk. We’ve been coming back several times since we took these three photos and we have also tried the Rijsttafel. The taste of food at Java reminds me of home cooked meal back in my childhood in Jakarta. For those who want a true authentic Indonesian meal in Brooklyn, I highly recommend Java. Try to come early when they’re open because the tables fill up very quickly 😊
Always on the hunt for Indonesian restaurant and this one was pretty good on a few dishes. Got the rijstaffle for two and liked the soup with chili sauce, chicken curry, lamb, beef rendang and the pandans dessert. Love the flavors.
But I always try a gado gado at every Indonesian place and thought this one was too saucey and the sauce lacked depth in flavor. The staff was super sweet and nice!
