National Shrine of North American Martyrs is beautiful! Birthplace of St.Kateri makes it worth a stop. Restrooms, walk the trails, inspiring story and incredible church. Peaceful spot to stop on your journey or as a destination!
Very peaceful place...you can feel the holiness here! And, the Mohawk Valley Views were awesome! Even though it was a really hot n humid day, the breeze up there was heavenly!
It was closed by time we got there but it's very peaceful but quite a bit of walking if you have any physical impairments (I do). The view from the back of the coliseum is breathtaking. I would definitely visit again. Beautiful Country....
Truly one of the most beautiful and amazing shrines you will ever experience. It is the site of the martyrdom of St. Isaac Joques, Rene Goupil, and John Lalande. The beauty of the spacious grounds, the quiet tranquility, and the total presence of martyrs who died for the love of Jesus is truly an experience to behold. Only about 45 minutes west of Albany, NY. Open each year from May through October.
I came here often as a kid with my family and school. But I hadn't been in years. Wow. They really do such a beautiful job at keeping the sacred grounds clean and tidy. I enjoyed going to Mass in the American Indian style church and praying the rosary in front of the Pieta. The status, in general, and wonderful. It's such a nice time to get away from busy, daily life and escape to the woods for quiet prayer. I highly recommend this shrine for both locals as well as out-of-towners.
