I have to accept that fact that if Island Medical gets busy, if the doctors are not punctual in returning our calls, it's because of the success the facility has had and how many people (like myself) suffer from health problems that could have been avoided had I made the right choices. Too many people blame the system but we, as patients, are part of it. We must remember, also, that there is a doctor shortage and it's going to get worse while the number of people with health problems seems to be increasing. I would suggest if you can't get into see your doctor immediately and you have symptoms that alarm you, go to one of the urgent care facilities in your area. Things have changed and we have to adapt with it. My PCP is Dr. Caruso and if I can't get to see him and have to wait for a few weeks to see him, it only suggests he's delivering high-quality care to his patients. Nobody waits in line to see a doctor that isn't doing his job exceptionally well.”
